Your information
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Bo Jacobson ("we," "us," or "the developer") handles information in Skyhook: Orbital Arcade ("Skyhook") and on these support pages. For questions or privacy requests, contact bjacobson26@me.com.
The essentials. You do not need a Skyhook account. Your progress and settings are saved on your device. We do not run a server that receives your gameplay history. Apple services, advertisements, and messages you send us can involve personal information, as explained below.
1. Information stored on your device
Skyhook stores your unlocked levels, medals, collected stardust, selected ship, demo status, audio and accessibility preferences, session count, and any cached purchase entitlement. It also maintains a backup of your save so that an interrupted write is less likely to erase your progress.
The game records a limited local diagnostic history, such as level starts and completions, launches, retries, and elapsed gameplay time. These records help describe game behavior; Skyhook does not automatically upload them to the developer. If you choose to send a screenshot or diagnostic file to us, we receive the information you include.
Skyhook has no account registration, chat, or developer-operated cloud-save service. It does not request your contacts, microphone, camera, photos, or precise location for gameplay. Device or iCloud backups may include app data according to your Apple settings.
2. Apple services and TestFlight
Apple processes information when you download, update, test, or make purchases in an app. The iPhone app can contact the App Store to request product information and check purchase entitlements. We do not receive your payment-card details from these requests.
If you use TestFlight, Apple shares beta usage information, crash reports, and feedback with us. This may include device and operating-system details, app sessions, screenshots or comments you submit, and, depending on how you joined, your name and email address. We use this information to investigate problems, respond to feedback, and improve Skyhook.
See TestFlight & Privacy and App Store & Privacy for Apple's practices and controls.
3. Advertisements and privacy choices
The public App Store version may show Google AdMob advertisements between completed levels. Ads never interrupt a flight. The game can be played offline, and unavailable ads do not block progression. An optional one-time Remove Ads purchase disables in-game advertising; it does not unlock levels, stardust, medals, or ships.
Before requesting ads, Skyhook uses Google's User Messaging Platform to check whether a privacy message is required and present it when necessary. If the privacy check fails, Skyhook skips advertisements and you can keep playing. Where Google requires a privacy-options entry point, Settings → Privacy & Support → Ad Privacy Choices lets you revisit your choices. Changing them discards any previously loaded ad before requesting another.
Google's advertising software may process your IP address (including an estimate of general location), device or app identifiers, advertising interactions, and diagnostic or performance information to deliver and measure ads, maintain the service, and prevent abuse. The exact information depends on the SDK, platform permissions, and configuration.
Skyhook requests non-personalized ads, disables the publisher first-party identifier feature and SDK crash reporting, and does not request permission to access Apple's advertising identifier. These settings do not eliminate all data processing. We do not send your saved level progress or local gameplay diagnostic history to Google.
Development and TestFlight builds may use test ads instead of live advertising. In test-ad builds, the privacy check starts only when you select Preview Test Ad; eligible level breaks can then show test ads during that session. Test ads still contact Google's services. Closing and reopening a test-ad build without choosing Preview prevents further test-ad requests for that session.
Details are available in Google's Privacy Policy and its Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure. To report an inappropriate ad, use Settings → Privacy & Support → Report an Ad or email us. Please include a description and approximate time; attach a screenshot if you have one.
4. Support messages
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments or other information you choose to provide. We use them to respond, troubleshoot, and manage your request. Our email provider processes these communications to deliver and store them. Please do not send payment details, passwords, or information that is not needed to explain your issue.
5. This website
These pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, forms, or third-party font requests. They are hosted with GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes, even for visitors who are not signed in. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
6. Use, disclosure, and retention
We use information we receive to provide support, improve and secure the game, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell support messages or TestFlight information, and we do not use them for targeted advertising. Provider processing described above is separate from the local save data that stays on your device. We may disclose information if legally required or necessary to protect lawful rights or safety.
Local progress remains until you remove the app's data; a backup or device restore may bring it back. The local diagnostic file holds a limited recent history rather than a permanent full play history. We keep support messages and any diagnostic material we receive only as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests, investigate issues, or meet legal obligations. Apple, Google, GitHub, and our email provider retain information under their own policies.
Information sent to these providers or to us may be processed outside your country. Their privacy policies explain their international processing and relevant safeguards. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
7. Your choices and rights
You can play without an account. Offline gameplay remains available. You can revisit applicable ad privacy choices or purchase Remove Ads in Settings. On iPhone, deleting the app removes its local app data; offloading the app keeps it. Manage device backups separately if you also want to remove backed-up copies. Uninstalling does not delete records held by Apple or other providers, cancel a purchase, or erase messages you previously sent us.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or complain to a privacy authority. Contact bjacobson26@me.com to make a request. We may need enough information to verify and locate your records. We cannot remotely access or reset saves that exist only on your device.
Where European or UK data-protection law applies, our grounds for processing information we receive include providing requested support, our legitimate interests in resolving bugs and protecting the game, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required. You can ask us about the basis for a particular use.
8. Children
Skyhook is a general-audience game and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information to us can contact bjacobson26@me.com so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
9. Changes and contact
We will update the date on this page when the policy changes and provide additional notice where required for a material change. New features involving different data practices will be reflected in the policy. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to Bo Jacobson at bjacobson26@me.com.
